Revolution and Occupation

Jonathan Thompson

Brought Sagtikos into the Thompson family

Jonathan Thompson of Brookhaven/Setauket purchased Sagtikos Manor — also called Apple Tree Farm — in 1758. Town Historian material states the property was bought for £1,200 New York money, and that his son Isaac Thompson appears to have taken over managing the farm as a teenager.

Why they matter

Jonathan Thompson brought Sagtikos Manor into the Thompson family, setting the stage for Isaac Thompson's Revolutionary-era story.

Connection to today

His purchase is part of why Sagtikos became one of Islip's clearest links to the Revolution, Washington's Long Island tour, and the Gardiner family story.
